Google Base!

Have you heard? Google has opened Google Base to the public.
similar to Froogle with some major changes. You can place all kinds of ads for free, with a set or negotiable price, shipping costs, photo upload, link to your website, etc. Products will also be placed on Froogle and indexed by Googles search engine. You can bulk upload your items also using your Froogle feed files. What more could you ask for? Well, it doesn't allow html in the description but hey, we cant have everything!

So, what does this mean to us at X-Defense?
Well aside from free advertising it fills an immediate need for us to easily post specials. As our website is large and complex, one change can affect the whole site, so using a monthly special page is a major pain to keep updated. We have done away with that page completely and will use Google Base instead.

So here's the deal!
The prices for our products on Google Base are lower than our normal advertised site prices. If you want to purchase one of our products on Google Base at the discounted price just send us the link with the discounted price and quantity you want, include your email addy and we will send you an invoice for payment via PayPal.

Stun Gun Basics

Stun Guns Traditional stun gun technology operates in a 7-14 Watt range and interferes with the communication signals within the nervous system of a person. These stun systems primarily effect the sensory nervous system. Stun systems interfere with the human command and control systems. However, a small percentage of people with a very high tolerance for electrical shock can fight through the effect of these 7-14 Watt systems. Stun guns are electrical self defense weapons that use high voltage to stop an assailant. Touching a person with the prongs of the stun gun quickly immobilizes the attacker. However, because stun guns have very low amperage, no serious or permanent injury is inflicted.

There are different sizes of stun guns and different voltages you can choose from. Basically, the higher the voltage the quicker the full effect of the stun device will take place. Lower voltage models are still effective though they make take a second or two longer to have full effect on your attacker. We basically recommend you get the highest voltage you can comfortably carry.

Taser Basics

A highly controversial self defense weapon.

Tasers Tasers are basically EMD weapons.
EMD weapons use a more powerful 18 to 26 Watt electrical signal to completely override the central nervous system and directly control the skeletal muscles. This EMD effect causes an uncontrollable contraction of the muscle tissue, allowing the taser to physically debilitate a target regardless of pain tolerance or mental focus. The Taser combines the injury reducing benefits of traditional stun technology with stopping power via new Electro-Muscular Disruption technology. In police studies, the Taser has a higher instant incapacitation rate than a 9 mm hand gun. The Taser shoots out 2 darts attached to 15 feet of wire(civilian models). 50,000 volts travels over the wires and over-rides the central nervous system providing incredible take down power. Highly recommended for police and security personnel.

Pepper Spray Basics

Often asked, always answered.

Defensive sprays are made of three basic chemical compounds.
CS (Orthochlorobenzalmalonitrile)
CN (alphachloroacetaphenone)
OC (Oleoresin Capsicum)
The first two, CS and CN, irritate the membrane tissues and cause stinging and tearing. They can take from 5 to 30 seconds before they are effective and may not work if someone is drunk, on drugs, psychotic, or can't feel pain(crack heads). The time delay and the fact that they may or may not be effective, is enough to turn people away from the self defense sprays. However, the remaining compound, OC, does not have these limitations. OC, or Pepper Spray, is an inflammatory agent; not an irritant. When someone is sprayed with OC pepper spray, the person's eyes slam shut. Even if someone does manage to get their eyes open, they won't be able to see because OC dilates the capillaries and causes temporary blindness. Additionally, instant inflammation of the breathing tissues restricts all but life suport breathing. They double over coughing uncontrollably. Sizes can range from a 1/2 ounce personal pepper spray up to 9 ounces for the bear pepper spray. Keychain sized defensive sprays or sizes easily carried on a belt or in a purse are ideal for most situations.

The two main factors you want to look for are the range and the number of shots. A 6-8 foot range is plenty since that is where most personal assaults will take place. Most defensive sprays are also classified by number of one second bursts. A good 1-2 second burst will disable almost any assailant. There are two basic types of defensive spray patterns, stream and mist. Stream patterns give good range but require aiming directly at the face. Cone mists and foam have shorter range but you don't have to aim as well. If there is a breeze, a stream is more controllable. Mists can be blown off target or even back to the sprayer. OC pepper spray works best when it hits the eyes and is inhaled. The mist is inhaled instantly while the stream might take longer for the person to breathe in the pepper spray.
